Our air conditioner was blowing hot air all because of a dirty coil
Our air conditioner seemed like it was working a lot harder than it usually does – it was constantly kicking on, running for longer periods of time, and did not seem to be blowing incredibly cold air.
This raised concern and question as to when the last time our air conditioning unit was serviced by an HVAC professional.
We figured it could not have been serviced longer than a year ago, so we just let it go and thought maybe it just was unusually hot out. I decided to YouTube why our air conditioner was working harder than usual and a video came up about the coils potentially being dirty. So, while watching the HVAC instructional video, I followed along and hosed off the outside of the coil after I turned off the power source. This did not help one bit, though it did look nice. I finally decided it was time to call an HVAC professional to get my air conditioning unit serviced because I was not comfortable taking the inner pieces of my unit apart. He got there the following day to perform routine maintenance and said I was exactly right – it was a dirty coil. But, it was the inside part of the coil and I was very glad I did not attempt to clean it myself because I did not have the proper tools and supplies to do so the proper way. Our HVAC technician had every product, tool and gadget you could imagine for this line of work and knew exactly what he was doing. I was thoroughly impressed and promised to be better about scheduling routine maintenance on our air conditioning unit.
