Since the boiler isn’t required to run for as long of cycles, it uses less energy! Plus, a oil furnace sacrifices quite a bit of energy to leaks in the HVAC duct. Along with the heated air escaping from the ducts, it tends to rise straight up to the ceiling plus only drop back down once it’s cooled off. With a boiler, the heat is radiated rather than blown into the air. It’s spread evenly at floor level plus rises really slowly. There’s usually little difference between the temperature near the floor plus up by the ceiling. There’s no drafts or chilly spots plus a boiler doesn’t bring in contaminants such as dust, dander, bacteria plus other harmful toxins. I also love the versatility of a boiler. It absolutely accommodates zone control, allowing independent room by room temperature control settings. This avoids the expense of keeping empty rooms perfectly comfortable.
