Better HVAC habits result in better HVAC savings

The main thing was making sure the inside temp never got more than 15 degrees cooler than the outside temp

No one could have planned for the pandemic. Subsequently, there was really no way to specifically plan for the economic effects of the pandemic either. We have always been careful not to be crazy with spending as we are committed to savings and investment. My wife and I have simply done the best that we could do with this year. And, for the most part, I think everyone else has as well. Once my wife got laid off early on in the initial spike of infections, the spending in our house was cut. We really only focused on the necessities. Luckily, I was able to continue to work from home in HVAC comfort. However, the loss of my wife’s income hit hard. So we made a full on commitment to save on anything and everything in our household budget. The HVAC costs were a big part of that effort. We knew that if we really got serious and proactive, we could save a bunch on the HVAC during the summer. Where we live, the summer is easily the most expensive when it comes to HVAC costs. So, we decided to really change that. We did make sure that we did the stuff like pulling the drapes, changing the weather stripping around the doors and using fans. The main thing was making sure the inside temp never got more than 15 degrees cooler than the outside temp. This made all the difference and we ended up savings several hundred dollars. Our fortunes will rise again but in the meantime, HVAC savings can really help with our budget shortfalls.
