A client presented me with a fake HVAC repair coupon

My boss offered myself and others a written warning on Friday afternoon because I offered a buyer an unauthorized sale price.

I am still aggravated plus tipped off about the entire situation from beginning to end.

I went out to the country on Monday to install an oil furnace for a single of our residential heating plus A/C clients. I was with the buyer for numerous hours! After the oil furnace was installed, the buyer presented myself and others with a coupon… The coupon appeared to be real plus our heating plus A/C contractor logo plus phone number appeared on the front. I tried to call our boss, although I did not have any cell reception at all. I even tried to call the front office, but the cell service was spotty. The buyer offered to let myself and others use his iPhone, although I did not want to take any options due to social distancing. I could not get anyone on the iPhone to confirm the sale price, so I decided to just discount the repair. I thought it was easier to deliver the buyer a discount then to lose the entire sale altogether. I genuinely thought our boss was going to be ecstatic with the decision that I made, but he brought myself and others into the office on Friday afternoon plus told myself and others that I should have made a much better decision. The coupon was fake plus every one of us lost $96 because I offered the buyer a 10% discount for free. I easily guess that our boss was overreacting, especially since he can contact the buyer plus take it up with them. I would never say that to his face at all. After all, the guy signs his name to our weekly paychecks.
