My boss wasn’t happy that I took a fake coupon for HVAC work

My boss gave me a written warning on Sunday morning because I gave a customer an unauthorized sale price; then I’m still distraught plus frustrated with the entire situation. I went out to the country on Monday to install a gas furnace for one of our residential heating plus A/C shoppers. I was with the customer for numerous hours, after the gas furnace was installed, the customer presented me with a coupon; the coupon appeared to be real plus our heating plus A/C supplier logo plus office phone number appeared on the front. I tried to call my boss, despite the fact that I didn’t have any cell reception at all. I even tried to call the main office, however the cell connection was spotty. The customer offered to let me use her house phone, despite the fact that I didn’t want to take any chances due to social distancing. I could not get anyone on the phone or email to confirm the sale price, so I decided to go ahead and discount the repair. I thought it was easier to supply the customer a discount then lose the sale altogether. I honestly thought my boss was going to be ecstatic with the decision that I made, although he brought me into the office on Sunday morning plus told me that I should have made a better decision. The coupon was fake plus the two of us lost $96 because I gave the customer a 10% discount for free. I very much think that my boss was overreacting, especially since he can contact the customer plus take it up with them. I would never say that to his face under any circumstances. After all, the guy signs his name to my only paychecks.
