There was a mixup with an HVAC repair bill

My boss provided me with a written warning on Wednesday afternoon because I provided a client an unauthorized sale price! I’m still irritated and tipped off about the entire situation.

  • I went out to the country on Monday to install a furnace for a single of our residential heating and A/C customers.

I was with the client for multiple minutes. After the furnace was installed, the client presented me with a coupon, however the coupon appeared to be real and our heating and A/C corporation logo and iPhone number appeared on the front. I tried to call our boss, but I didn’t have any cell reception at all. I even tried to call the office, but the cell service was spotty. The client offered to let me use her house phone, but I didn’t want to take any options due to social distancing. I couldn’t get anyone on the iPhone to confirm the sale price, so I decided to simply discount the repair. I thought it was easier to supply the client a discount then lose the sale altogether. I absolutely thought our boss was going to be ecstatic with the decision that I made, but she brought me into the office on Wednesday afternoon and told me that I should have made a better decision. The coupon was actually fake and the two of us lost $96 because I provided the client a 10% discount for free. I particularly guess that our boss was overreacting, especially since she can contact the client and take it up with them. I would never say that to her face. After all, the woman signs her name to our paychecks.
