You sure you want an oil furnace?

Is an oil furnace really the way to go? With an oil furnace the flame does burn much hotter, making it better at creating a warm home than a gas option.

The AFUE rating ranges from 80-90% depending on the style of furnace you want.

Also, this oil heater will produce fewer emissions than a gas furnace option. Another plus side to getting an oil heater is that it won’t leak carbon monoxide. It also doesn’t have the issues that a gas heater does because there is less of a chance for dirt and soot build up in it. If you live in really frigid temperatures, like single digits, an oil furnace can get the job done quickly and efficiently. There are some cons to this little system however. With an oil furnace you need an on site oil tank. A lot of homeowners complain about it taking up so much square footage. While an oil furnace initially isn’t a ton of money, once you consider the on site tank and oil deliveries, then the cost goes up. The price of oil isn’t exactly consistent where you can budget it into your bank account monthly. There are oil deliveries, oil filters, and oil changes that are frequently done with this system. The maintenance on top of this makes keeping an oil furnace kind of expensive. So is an oil furnace really the right option for your home? Not every furnace is alike. It is not impossible to change from gas to oil and vice versa. It is just not an easy task for the HVAC business to do.
