The heating bills are extra high this month

For some reason, our heating bills are almost twice as high as they should have been this month.

I’m not really sure what’s going on because I don’t think that the outside temperatures are that much colder this year than they were last year at this time.

I feel like it’s something to do with our HVAC system rather than the exterior elements that is causing this major hike in our heating bills. Of course, I’m no HVAC technician, but I can’t help but wonder about the cause of this. I have read before that sometimes thermostat units are to blame. If your thermostat is not functioning properly, then your whole HVAC system can stop working correctly. I like to think of our thermostat as the brain of our HVAC system. And of course if you’re having trouble with the brain, then the rest of the system is going to have trouble, too. Anyway, with all of these high heating bills, I decided to go ahead and call one of our local HVAC companies to see what they thought could be the problem. The HVAC technician that I spoke with said that he would check the thermostat just to rule out any issues, but that he was pretty sure that the problem probably had more to do with our ventilation system than with the thermostat unit. He seemed pretty confident about that fact, too. He said that he almost guaranteed that the issue was something to do with us needing some ductwork sealing done in the house. I made an appointment!
