There is nothing better than a good HVAC technician.I am an experienced HVAC technician, and I own my own HVAC heating and cooling business, as well as an HVAC warehouse. As the owner of an HVAC business, I get to have a lot of interviews with HVAC technicians that want to work for me. So many times I have HVAC technicians who come in for an interview but they are just not cut for the job. There are two main things that I look for when I am considering hiring an HVAC technician. First, I want to know if they know their stuff. It amazes me how many professing HVAC technicians actually don’t know much about air conditioners and furnaces. I one had a man come in for an interview who didn’t know how to insert an air filter into a central air conditioner or a window air conditioner. Many HVAC technicians somehow are able to graduate from college with an HVAC degree but they have no idea what they’re doing when they actually get to work on an air conditioner, furnace, or air purifier. The second thing I look for in an HVAC technician is social skills. An HVAC technician must know how to deal with customers, and how to talk to them about how to handle any minor problems with their air conditioner or furnace. Some HVAC technicians come in and can hardly look me in the eye during an interview, and this is an immediate sign that they won’t be a good HVAC technician for my business.
