I thought we just needed to move the thermostat to a new location
I don’t know who decided to put the thermostat in the laundry room of our house, but that’s where it was.
- Whenever we were doing laundry and had the dryer running, it would tend to cause the laundry room to overheat.
I have carefully checked the vent many times also and realized there was nothing more I could do to prevent all that additional heating inside of there. This of course affected the thermostat so that it thought it was warm enough in the house, when in reality, the house was freezing. In the summer season when we were using the cooling system, the thermostat thought we needed more cooling, so then it became way too frosty throughout the house when doing laundry. Finally, I decided to have an HVAC specialist come out to help us figure out the problem. I was thinking that we would just move the thermostat to a new location, but he was saying that our HVAC system was pretty old and asked if we had been thinking about an upgrade. Actually, we were thinking about doing that, we even had the money for such a substantial upgrade. He easily recommended we go for a ductless mini split system. He said we would be able to appreciate the customized temperature control settings with different zones in the house, and this sounded quite appealing. After the new system was installed, everybody was happy because we no longer had issues with a thermostat being in the laundry room and the whole house feeling uncomfortable. We also have been saving a good amount on our energy bills.
