We are working on restoring the house that we bought last year.
- The problem is that we don’t really know how to tie in the old existing heating and cooling system with the new one that we are trying to install to bring the house up to speed.
I’ve been doing a lot of research about different ways that we can make the heating and cooling system better in this old house. At first I wanted to try and keep the old system, but I just don’t think that that is a feasible option. We thought about installing a traditional old forced air central air conditioning system, but if we do, then we are going to lose all of our closet space because that’s where the duct work would have to go. The house already has a significant lack of closet space because it’s an older home so we didn’t want to go that route. We looked into some other alternatives and we ended up finding something called a high velocity mini duct HVAC system. This sort of HVAC system pushes air conditioning through smaller ducts than normal. For houses like ours, the best part is the fact that the ductwork is super flexible and it can go through existing walls or be placed on top of ceilings. You can use these types of air ducts without having to cut big holes in your walls or use ugly dropped ceilings. I think this is definitely going to be the answer for us! Now we just have to find a local heating and cooling company who is willing to install this sort of HVAC unit for us.
