When our partner Pat and I obtained this house, all of the tile, hardwood, and carpet was brand new. The colorless tile in the bedrooms had a fresh, wash colorless grout as well. The bedrooms sparkled when they were empty, but after residing in the home for numerous years, Pat and I began to notice the discolorations in the bedroom. All of the grout was grimy and dirty. Instead of a fresh and washed colorless color, the grout was a dingy light brown. Pat and I contacted a couple of janitorial services and every one of us found a local business that provided brick floor cleaning. The brick floor cleaning service was easily high-priced. They charged a rate according to the square footage of the cleaned section. I thought that was sufficient, given the fact that some people have much larger bedrooms than others. The equipment used pressurized water to wash the floor, but it had a suction plan that kept the dirty water in a separate compartment. The brick girl unconnected all of the old discoloration from the route, and by the time she was finished, our bedroom looked brand new. Pat and I made an appointment with the same flooring business and next month every one of us are going to let them wash all of the rugs and replace some of the old tiles in the bathrooms. I was often gone for a week at a time plus I seldom got to sit down for a full meal. Most of the time, I was eating on the run, which is not enjoyable for proper digestion. I was in the middle of negotiating a big state contract when our stomach began to grumble. I tried to ignore it, however the sounds were getting louder plus I knew I was beginning to get some rumbling from the people around me. I felt a nudge to our side, plus a note passed to me. They wanted me to call a split so both of us could order some lunch. That was the most welcome message I could have gotten. The vice president of the association pulled out many menus plus told everyone to order whatever they wanted. I forgot both of us were in a big part where you could order nearly any kind of food, plus have it delivered within half an seventh. Once all of us put in our meal delivery order, both of us went back to talking until it arrived. It was nice to have local meal delivery service. We really want to get a vacation cottage, but we want to be sure that we can find a place with a fireplace in it.

I know that that sounds silly and a little bit overly specific, but it’s just one of the things that I think make a vacation home special.

I have always wanted a home with a wood burning fireplace in it, but for some reason I have never been able to get that throughout my entire life. I’m almost at retirement age now, and I still have never lived in a house with a fireplace! I think that’s pretty ridiculous, and so when we decided that we were going to start looking for vacation homes, the one thing that I said that I wanted to have was a wood burning fireplace and I stand by that. My husband says that I can’t be so choosy, but at this point in my life I feel like I can afford to be choosy! I told him that I absolutely refuse to sign on the dotted line for a new vacation home unless it has a wood burning fireplace in it. And I mean it! I have decided that I’m going to put my foot down about this because usually I just let whatever I want go right out the window. These days though, I’m more inclined to fight for what I actually want, and what I want is a vacation home with a wood burning fireplace in it. I know that if we just bide our time, we will be able to find the perfect vacation home with a great HVAC system in it. And more importantly, we will be able to find one with a built-in wood burning fireplace!

Being an adult means getting excited about getting a new HVAC system installed in your house. I know that that sounds so lame to younger people who aren’t homeowners or anything like that, but to older people like me, it’s so exciting! Anyway, the only other thing that I have ever been this excited about was the day that I got my new washer and dryer combo. That was a wonderful day, that’s for sure! However, now that I am on the HVAC company’s schedule to get my new HVAC system installed, I think that I am even more excited now than I was on washer and dryer delivery day! I had to make an appointment a long time ago because they were really backed up and they weren’t even getting all of the supplies and equipment that they needed on a regular basis a couple of months ago. However, now it seems as if all of the supply chain issues and the product shortages are finally rectified. When the HVAC company called me the other day to schedule the date for delivery and for installation, I was so excited that I could barely contain myself. The day is coming up soon, and I am literally marking off the days on the calendar in anticipation of the day that my HVAC system will be installed. I guess being an adult means that you start caring about the things that you never cared about before. I know that I never used to care about HVAC systems, but now I just can’t wait for my new one!

Earlier this year, I found out that I have some pretty bad allergies to things like dust, pollen, and mold.

I always knew that I would sneeze and cough a lot in the springtime and in the fall, but I never really thought that much about it until this year.

For some reason, this year, the indoor air quality in my house has been extra bad and I have been coughing and sneezing like crazy for weeks at a time. Of course, I’m not trained in heating, cooling, and ventilation technology, so I have no idea what’s going on in my house. The only thing that I could figure out was that there must be something wrong with my air filters or my ventilation ducts. I thought that there must be something getting inside of the house that was making me cough and sneeze. Prior to this year, I would only have troubles with my allergies whenever I was outside for any length of time. However, this year, my allergies have been bad even when I stay inside my house all the time. I finally broke down and went to one of the local allergists that practice here in town. He told me that I needed to stop the allergens before they get into my ventilation system in the first place. This made a whole lot of sense to me, but I really had no idea how to accomplish it. The doctor actually sent me home with a recommendation for a local HVAC company. He said that they would be able to install a whole home air purification system for me that would help me out tremendously.

• I am so sick and tired of the cold temperatures that we have been having around here that I can’t even stand it any longer.

We have been dealing with ice and cold for so long now that I feel like I live inside of a refrigerator or something. I keep complaining about it, but I know that there’s really nothing I can do about the climate around here itself. However, there is something I can do about me having to deal with it. I keep threatening that I’m going to end up moving if the cold weather keeps up, and I’m seriously beginning to consider it. Usually, I am just blowing smoke, but the longer the cold temperatures go along, the more I feel like I’m actually going to do something about it. I know that there is going to be some cold weather anywhere that I go, but the temperatures that we have been dealing with around here are just ridiculous. My heating bills have been through the roof over the past few months, and winter has just barely started! I hate having to pay high heating bills more than just about anything. I have a wood burning fireplace that I use sometimes too, but I can’t exactly heat my entire house with a wood burning fireplace all winter long. That would take an entire forest of firewood. All I know is that I’m sick of it. If the cold keeps up, I’m out of here.
