Something that was cool about our new house was the enclosed porch.

We had major plans of playing cards out there, relaxing, and having drinks.

Well, I was happy being on the porch hanging out with my buddies, but I realized there was a huge issue when we got into the winter season. We were no longer able to relax on the porch even though we put plastic on all of the windows. It was somewhat warm with the windows being covered, but there was no heating system to speak of. I spoke with my wife about it and she said it would probably be a great idea to have some sort of heating system installed. I decided to look into different heating systems that would work for the enclosed porch. After doing some research on the best type of heater, I ended up becoming interested in the ductless mini split. We would only need a single zone system for the porch and the ductless mini split provides both heating and cooling. I had a professional give us a quote on the installation and I wasn’t too pleased with how expensive it was going to be. It was only the porch and it also seemed like this type of HVAC system would be easy to install. I mean all I had installed before were window A/C units and I have been using portable air purifiers as well. I decided to watch installation videos and it really did seem easier than ever. I ended up having the ductless mini split delivered and I installed it with my buddy who happens to be a skilled handyman. We knocked the job out easily and now everybody enjoys relaxing on the porch even in the winter!

I’ve done some stupid things in my time, but recently I done a very dumb thing. For the most part I would always just hang with my buddies at my place. I always appreciated drinking at my place while relaxing in front of the fireplace. We would watch basketball, football, or play video games. It was usually whatever and my place was always comfortable thanks to my awesome HVAC system with the smart thermostat. Well, my smart thermostat kept reminding me that it was time to get my HVAC system maintenance. I honestly was about to call the HVAC company to have everything taken care of, but then one of my friends said we should take care of the HVAC system maintenance. I wasn’t sure, I said it probably wasn’t a good idea to work on the HVAC system without any qualifications or experience. Everybody said it couldn’t be that hard and they started looking online at different HVAC maintenance videos. My one buddy said, “See, I told you this stuff was easy to do!” Before I knew it, we were shutting off the power to the HVAC and opening it up to see what was happening inside. It was really dirty and we cleaned it out a good amount. One friend was going a little hard with the cleaning because it seemed he broke some component inside. I asked what that was and he said it should be fine. Well, the HVAC didn’t work when we tried to turn it on and I ended up having to call the HVAC company for repairs instead of just maintenance. I was so stupid to listen to my friends.

He was always happy to see me when I would come out to visit, and I made sure to visit often.

I enjoyed helping him with things around the household, things he said he was getting too old for. One thing I remember helping with was cleaning out the ductwork system. He had a rather interesting set up with a wood burning furnace that was connected to a system of ductwork. He showed me how to use the shop vac to clear everything out and we were able to get a lot of dirt and debris from the ductwork. He also said it was always important to have the regular HVAC system taken care of properly too. In his case, he had an oil furnace. He liked to use the wood burning furnace the most because it was cheaper to burn wood. The oil furnace was mostly used as a backup, but the HVAC professionals still needed to come out every year to provide a tune-up to the heating system. He also had to get the oil refueled typically. While that was ridiculously expensive, it was a good thing that he didn’t have to refuel the oil furnace that often because he rarely used it. I remember I asked him once why he always rufuels the system if he hardly ever uses it. He told me that it’s better to be prepared with something you don’t need than to need something and not have it. He always was speaking words of wisdom and I always appreciated that about him.

New heating and cooling information

Having been raised in a military family, I mostly remained aloof towards others.

This was because we were always moving every few years so if you were to have any emotional attachment with people, you were only going to be hurt because you had to move to another location.

It has been an interesting experience being able to visit numerous different places. I learned quite a bit, things that I might not have ever thought about if I hadn’t moved around so much. For example, it’s always been interesting to me the types of HVAC systems people use in different areas. We even lived in a place where we had no heating system, only a cooling system. There was a fireplace in the household, but we never had to use it even once. We also had a few portable heaters in case the house ever did get somewhat chilly in the winter months, but honestly you couldn’t even tell it was winter half the time because it was regularly so warm and comfortable. In the southern part of the country where we lived for a few years, I thought it was cool how we were using a heat pump. It’s cool how the heat pump works to push the heating energy from the home to provide a cooling effect. It’s highly energy efficient too and it’s the most preferred type of HVAC in the South. In the North, things were a little challenging because the winters were so severe. It took me a long time to adjust, but I have learned to enjoy this type of climate.

I want him to be able to take over the business one of these days.

I have been running a successful printing business for a long while now. We print all kinds of signs and we even do 3D printing for our clients. Well, I always thought one of the most important things was making sure our workers were perfectly comfortable in the work environment. This is why I invested in a powerful air purification system that we have been using over the years in our work building. On top of that, I have an HVAC service plan so the HVAC professionals make sure everything is always running smoothly with the HVAC system. We never want to have to face some kind of issue with the heating and cooling, especially when we have all these projects we are working on. We also want to make sure the quality of our projects are kept intact. I really have been trying to set a good example for my son who I am showing the ropes to. I want him to be able to take over the business one of these days. I hope that he understands how important the HVAC maintenance is and keeping up with the printer machines. It can be costly keeping up with everything, but I was telling my son how you have to spend money to be successful. He thought that maybe we should cut back on things like HVAC system maintenance, but I told him that would make it so we have to pay more cash when the HVAC inevitably shuts down. He has a long way to go with a lot to learn, but he’ll get there.

I’m actually kind of surprised how upset I was when I learned that we had to replace the old boiler.

All the piping and radiators were still in great shape, but the boiler itself was pretty much shot.

I imagine this boiler must have lasted a good 40 years or so because it was old even when we first bought the house and that was 20 years ago. This boiler kept us nice and toasty over the years and we never had any major issues. I’m sure a big part of the reason was because we made sure to have our heating system checked and tuned up each year. Another thing I loved about that boiler was how energy efficient it was, especially for the age of the heating system. There’s the old saying that they don’t make them like they used to. Well, I wasn’t so sure about that with boiler systems but I was somewhat worried to find out. When I had a consultation with an HVAC professional, he said it would be fairly straightforward to replace the old boiler. The new boilers that were available were also pretty amazing and even more energy efficient than the old one. I was thinking that nothing would be able to replace our old friend that kept us toasty through the frosty winters over the years. Well, I was wrong, we found the perfect replacement and honestly it works so much better than the old one! I’ll miss the old boiler system, but I welcome the new one and hope it lasts just as long as the old heating unit.

It is large enough that it actually does require HVAC.

I love remodeling projects. I have gone from room to room in my house and renovating the spaces. I love tiling, painting and moving things around. The last room in the house is the main bathroom. I am excited since the space needs a lot of love. I don’t need to do any major layout changes, but I want all new stuff. My storage unit in the bathroom is too small and ugly. I want to get an IKEA storage unit. My sink vanity needs a better countertop and more storage. I want a new tub, shower controls, shower heads and toilet. I even plan to get new tile floors and tile around the shower area. I am going to spend quite a bit of money in the HVAC department too. First, I want to add bathroom ventilation. I hate the stuffy, hot air after a shoer. I hate that mold grows quickly and the bathroom smells. It makes sense to remove the heat from the home and introduce some fresh air. I also have a ductless HVAC unit in the house. Each room has its own indoor air handler and thermostat. I didn’t think the main bathroom needed one. It is large enough that it actually does require HVAC. I need to get my HVAC technician over to add a unit and a thermostat. It shouldn’t be much money since he is attaching the component to the existing outdoor air compressor. It will be so nice having heating and air in the space. I won’t be freezing cold taking a bath in the winter anymore.

I can’t wait to have both heating and air in my new space

I am totally gutting and updating my kitchen. I have saved over 20 grand to make it the kitchen of my dreams. I want quartz countertops, hardwood cabinets, new windows, recessed lighting, tile floors and all stainless steel appliances. I figure I make good money, I don’t have kids yet and the kitchen is going to last me years. I want to have a space that is high quality and will last. I am not sparing any expense either. I am getting the best fridge, stove, dishwasher, garbage disposal and microwave available. I am getting the exact counter, backsplash and cabinets I want. I also am springing for a ductless heat pump. In the winter the kitchen gets cold. Currently I use a ventless heater that takes up floor space. I want to remove it and have more space for cabinets. I also would like the option of cooling in the summertime. Opening windows only goes so far for cooling. In the north you can get by without AC, but it is tough. It also is difficult to use the oven or stovetop in the summer due to the heat. The humidity makes it moist in the kitchen and gardeners mold growth. Adding AC is more than necessary. I am getting a ductless heat pump and counting it high and out of the way. I found a style that matches the wall color I am painting and my new appliances. I can’t wait to have both heating and air in my new space. It will look so high tech, modern and flashy. My goal is to have everyone say wow when they see my new kitchen.

Younger women want a man that is built well, has great hair and maybe a good car.

His personality really falls second. If you think about what kind of guy you want the attributes probably are kindness, confidence and intelligence. For me I knew I wanted a handy guy. I hate calling for repairs and attempting them on my own. I am not good at deducing problems and fixing them. I hate researching HVAC companies, electricians and plumbers. I knew I wanted a man that could just do those things. My husband is so handy and I just love it. I am convinced he can fix anything. He has repaired our ice maker, leaking the dishwasher and oven from not turning on. He installed my new washer and dryer and moved my kitchen stove when I remodeled. He tiled all the floors in the house and replaced the toilets. When I wanted to add heated flooring in the process, that wasn’t a problem either. I read online the installation for electric heated flooring was simple. You take electric heated mats and place them over the cement board. Then a new tile goes on top. I wasn’t convinced I could do it, but I knew he could. Now my whole house has brand new heated flooring, and tile floors. The home feels way more modern and open. I got to remove my giant fireplace in the living room because of the heated flooring. Let me rephrase, my husband got to remove the fireplace and open up our living room. Other women don’t get this kind of luxury.

I don’t have a handy husband.

When anything breaks in the house I just cringe. I don’t want him working on repairs or installing new things. First, he isn’t skilled in that department and usually does it wrong. Next, my husband has a really bad temper and tends to throw things or break whatever he is working on. I try to hide when something is broken or if I am installing something. I need to sneak in professionals when he is not home. Right now I am waiting on a HVAC repair. One day the AC just stopped working. I tried changing the air filter, mucking out the condensate drain and cleaning the cooling coil. I couldn’t fix it. No way am I going to alert my husband that the AC doesn’t work. He would get out his tools and reef on the AC. He would strip the bolts, handle the paneling roughly and might even throw his tools against the side. Sometimes my husband gets so angry walking back and forth with his tools that he ends up throwing the tools outside and ruining my gardens. I need him not to notice that we don’t have cooling. The moment he leaves for golf on Sunday I am going to have the HVAC worker hurry to fix the cooling system. I already explained to the HVAC technician that he needs to move fast and leave no signs that he was in his house. It is like having an affair only with repairs. I hope my husband doesn’t notice.
